t WINNERS AT ROYAL ASCOT $ $ Special Cablegram. ASCOT, England, June 16. The four-day fashionable Ascot meeting opened here today. The features of the all stakes program were the Prince of Wales Stakes and Ascot Stakes. The former was won by- Sir Abe Baileys Valerian, with the Aga Khans. .Sind second and Lord Astors Plaster Cast third in a field of thirteen starters. Out of the picture was William Woodwards Flares, full brother to Omaha, both being sons of Gallant Fox and Flambino. Omaha is carded to start in the classic Ascot Gold Cup Thursday, for which event he is the ruling favorite. Valerian was 20 to 1, while Sind was the favorite at 9 to 1 in the Prince of Wales Stakes. They finished half a length apart, with Plaster Cast only a neck back. Maj. J. B. Walkers Bouldnor won the Ascot Stakes from Sir Percy Lorraines Coup de Roi. Sir Ernet Tates Bouc Birl v?.s third. There were thirty-four starters.
