GRANVILLE - OUT OF DWYER Belair Stud Star Not Ready for Another Battle With John Hay Whitneys Mr. Bones. NEW YORK, N. Y., June 16. There will be no renewal of that great battle between William Woodwards Granville and John Hay Whitneys Mr., Bones, such as, .was seen in the running-tof. the Belmont Stakes, when the field is called out for the Dwyer Stakes at Aqueduct Saturday. James Fitzsimmons has decided against starting Granville in the mile and a furlong test and for the present he will have to rest on his laurels. In the mile and a half of the Belmont Stakes, under equal weights, the finish between the son of Gallant Fox and Mr. Bones was so excitingly close that it took a photograph to declare the Woodward colt winner. In the Dwyer he would have to give Mr. Bones ten pounds and on the Belmont Stakes running he does not appear capable of giving him a pound at a mile and .a furlong. That is naturally one reason for not sending Granville to the post and another is that Fitzsimmons has not been able to give the colt the preparation desired for the race. He has said there was nothing at all the matter with Granville, but he realized after the Belmont Stakes that the colt would have to be at his best to beat Mr. Bones and he could not be at his best with no opportunity for the desired work. The "elimination, of the Woodward colt will detract from the interest in the Dwyer, and Mr. Bones need only come back to his Belmont Stakes performance to encounter no trouble over the other probables. He is the equal of any of them, and the Belmont Stakes demonstrated that he knows how to stay. It is probable that at post time, Walter M. Jeffords Jean Bart, which ralso started in the Belmont Stakes, will be the best one that will be started against the son of Royal Minstrel and Rinkey. This fellow has been training exceedingly well and is ready for a good race. Gean Canach, winner of the Shevlin Stakes for the Brookmeade Stable, is another that may be sent to the post, but both of these would have to improve considerably to offer a serious threat to Mr. Bones.
