I SUFFOLK DOWNS NOTES s 4 Earl Steffen, veteran rider, is leaving for Detroit to join forces with the stable of Hal Price Headley. Preston Burch phoned from Belmont Park informing Harry Hayes, he is . shipping several members of the Walter M. Jeffords string to Suffolk Downs. The division to come here includes Firethorn, Fair Albion, Thirteen Stars, Sweet as Sugar,. St. Elmo, Jean Bart, Indomnitable, Kearsarge, Matey, Regal Lily, Degrasse, Wanda, Golden Hind, Peggy Shippen, Golden Era, Giant Killer, Rouge et Noir, America First, Ballerina and Wulfstan. Frank Gilpin wired that he was shipping Stand Pat, ace performer of the Seagram stable, and three other members of that establishment, from Detroit. The sable ex- m pects to arrive here next week. The remainder of the string will arrive about July 1. W. C. Weant will ship his big string from Agawam to Suffolk Downs as soon as he is able to obtain vans to make the trip. The clever apprentice, A. Cooper, will accompany the Weant string. . The stables of J. Chesney and Ed McCuan were shipped from Rockingham Park to Thistle Downs. o -
