HOLIDAY SPORT AT BOSTON Massachusetts Honoring Heroes of Lexington and Bunker Hill ,000 Race Main Event. BOSTON, Mass., June 16. Theyre having a "holiday in this section tomorrow to honor the Minute Men, the boys of Lexington and the heroes of Bunker Hill and Suffolk Downs experts the biggest crowd of the season to date to be present for the program which will be featured by the Bunker Hill Handicap, a mile and an eighth gallop for three-year-olds and upward which has drawn an overnight field of nine. It will carry ,000 in added money. The sun was shining as the sport opened this afternoon, but the track was still slow from the hard rains of opening day. A near gale, which blew over Boston last night, had helped to dry it out. It was deep in slop yesterday. With continued sunshine and warm weather it will be fast for the holiday spoit. Gallant Mac, a horse Alfred G. Vanderbilt sent here in an attempt to win the Rockingham Park Handicap, is the top weight of the Bunker Hill acceptances. He will carry 111 pounds, giving five to Araho Stables Howard and Leon Carters Black Gift. Howard, a horse that trainer Bobby Curran hoped would develop into a top class handicap performer earlier in the season, failed at both Narragansett and Rockingham. He has been working very fast and Curran has hopes that the course here, less cuppy than the Salem track, will prove to his liking. Black Gift holds a world of early speed. His most impressive performance this season was his win in the Philadelphia Handicap. The Lone Star Stable will again send old Rip Van Winkle the distance and the wider turns here should be in this veterans favor. Gov. Sholtz will probably be the one that will be coming with a rush at the end though it. is doubted if he can get up in time among this kind. The other members of the field are Chance Line, Boston Brook and Skip It. The latter is the light weight of the pack under 100 pounds. Only one of tomorrows eight events has filled to capacity, largely because of the high claiming prices imposed here. However, none of the races has drawn less than seven horses and most of the events appear to be well matched contests on paper.
