OMAHA AND QUASHFD IN j MATCH RACE? ! A Special Cablegram. LONDON, England, June 19 The great finish in the Ascot Gold Cup, in which the filly Quashed received the decision over Americas champion Omaha by a head, might have been called a dead heat without injustice to either horse, is the opinion of fairminded sportsmen who witnessed the race. Even R. Perryman, who had the mount on Quashed is reported to have said: "I couldnt see anything between us at the finish." There is now talk of a match race between the two horses, and it is said that if William Woodward, owner of Omaha, would ask for another chance for his great horse, that Lord Stanley, owner of Quashed, would be willing to pit his crack filly against the Yankee star. Experts believe such a race would attract a larger crowd than that which saw the Ascot Gold Cup decided.
