TODAYS DETROIT HEADLINER I t Sixteen Two -Year-Olds Named for Moslem Temple Stakes. - Creech, Milky Way, Dixiana, Boniar, Howard and Hal Price Headley Stables Represented by Entries. - V,2. , DETROIT, Mich., June 19. Sixteen two-year-olds, representing- the leaders of Kentucky, Illinois and Michigan racing, were named for the ,000 added Moslem Temple Stakes, Detroits main attraction tomorrow ; afternoon. To Little Upset, Butsey Hernan-!dez consistent colt, went the honor of carry-ling the top weight of 119 pounds over the I five and one-half furlongs. Leonard Turner ,will be astride the son of Upset and he will fhave his work cut out for him, as his op-rponents have played a very important part an juvenile racing. J Clyde Van Dusen and Robert McGarvey, trainers of the Dixiana and Milky Way iFarms Stables, who have won a majority of the two-year-old stakes offered this year, will saddle a pair of eligibles each. Van pDusen brought Matas Brother and Manager jMike here from Latonia and McGarvey came irom Chicago with Nations Taste and Reaping Reward. Matas Brother is a full brother to Mata Hari and Manager Mike, named for he manager of the Detroit Tigers, is a half brother to Far Star. They were the Reading- two-year-olds of 1934. Mata Hari iwon the Lassie Stakes, and For Star was victorious in the Arlington Futurity. Mata tear! was retired from training after failing ftn the Detroit Derby, and For Star broke down during the running of the Kentucky toaks. However, Mata Hari turned back a good field in the Illinois Derby. t Nations Taste, which received his name through an advertising campaign, has won three of his four starts. He will be ridden by Alfred Robertson. Reaping Reward will be jridden by Lester Balaski. if Like the Dixiana pair, Yellow Tulip and gPeace River will carry the hopes of Detroit-Jers. They are the property of Charles A. 23ohn and Peter A. Markey, who race under "the nom de course of the Bomar Stable. Yellow Tulip won two races here and was beat-ien by Dogaway in the Hawthorne Juvenile Stakes. Peace River won one race here. I Planetoid, the gray streak, which J. Tommy Taylor sent here in charge of his brother, Walter Taylor, will come in for strong consideration. She won a stakes at Narragan-ett and a race in Texas and at Churchill Downs. In her last outing she finished second to Foolish Moment in the Clipsetta Stakes. II Mrs. A. M. Creech and Hal Price Headley amed two each. Mrs. Creechs colorbearers K rill be Miss Dolphin, holder of the five jfurlongs f record, and Bright Land. The jtjueen and Clingendaal are the hopes of JHeadley." Another stable to be represented by a pair jpf candidates is the California-owned stable of Mrs. C. S. Howard, Coramine and Smart Agnes. Neither has been under colors here, but were very successful in Pacific Coast racing. Rebecca Lee and Oddesa Girl complete the field. i Supporting the feature is the Judge DeWitt H. Merriam Handicap, for which a field of seven were named. Billy Bee is the top weight, under 116 pounds, with Sab-Jin following under 114 pounds. In the event of clear weather, one of the largest crowds of the meeting is expected to be present. The day has been set aside as Shriners Day, and Joe Frost, Michigan racing commissioner, is in charge of the program. Several bands and drum corps from the different Shrine temples will be present.
