I CINCINNATI TROPHY FIELD Fifteen Colts and Geldings Named for Latonia Stake. Thirty-Fifth Renewal of Juvenile Fixture Chief Offering Today on Program at Covington Trade LATONIA, Ky., June 19. The ,000 added Cincinnati Trophy, a sprint of six furlongs exclusively for two-year-old colts and geldings, shapes up as one of the most attractive stake offerings on the Latonia Jockey Club calendar. The Trophy, fifth, of the important stakes scheduled for the thirty-seven day meeting, will be decided for the thirty-fifth consecutive time Saturday afternoon and is expected to bring out one of the most representative gatherings of the entire season. Interest is high in the renewal of the Trophy and a closely fought battle for the rich prize is regarded as certain because of the well matched band of juveniles that has been made eligible in the overnight entries. Fifteen of the eighty-three youngsters nominated for the stake comprise the overnight field. With Dixiana and J. W. Parrish the only interests to be represented by more than one entrant, twelve different establishments are represented, with the aforementioned nominees likely to receive the most support from the bettors. Both Proph and Dehor, from the Parrish barn, have demonstrated their ability in winning efforts over the Latonia course during the current meeting and indications point to this pair ruling a slight choice over Dixianas Sweepalot, Good Catch and Lee Hastings, which have shown to equally good advantage. However, the race does not lie strictly among the Parrish and Dixiana colorbearers, as H. C. Applegates Chigre has displayed some excellent winning efforts and is being regarded as a potential winner by many astute turfmen who are of the opinion that the six furlongs route will increase the chances of the son of Peter Hastings Twilight Maiden. Josh, which races for A. L. Ferguson and H. C. Herndon, recently defeated a well-balanced field of youngsters, coming from behind to accomplish the feat. On that performance he comes in for some recognition as a contender for major honors. Mose Goldblatts Dr. Menendez, R. L. Bakers Ginocchio and Rockhome Stables Carl S. are others of the group which are not likely to be entirely overlooked when the field lines up at starter William Hamiltons gate for the contest. The weather forecast is fair and cool and if the prognostication of the weather man is correct, will make for a lightning-fast track for the renewal of the famous stake, which was inaugurated in 1902 and has been continued each year since without interruption.
