I LATONIA TURF NOTES I 4 . . Jockey Glenn Fowler was suspended for five days by the Latonia Jockey Club stewards for rough riding in the third astride Emmie R. Fowler came over sharply from No. 11 post position soon after the start. The Kentucky State Racing Commission will convene for a meeting in the clubhouse at Latonia Saturday afternoon, according to an announcement by chairman Polk Laf-foon. Several matters will come up for discussion. Clyde Van Dusen, trainer for the pretentious Dixiana stable of Charles T. Fisher of Detroit, will return Matas Brother and Manager Mike to Latonia after the two-year-olds fulfill their engagement in the stake at the Detroit Fair Grounds Saturday. Jockey Charley Stevenson, leading rider at the Latonia meeting, will also return here to resume riding Monday, it was learned. Members of the Thoroughbred Horsemens Club of America will hold their annual luncheon and meeting in the clubhouse at Latonia Saturday. Members from several sections of Kentucky will be present. Upon the recommendation of Dr. J. H. Reister, veterinarian representing the Kentucky State Racing Commission, the two-year-old filly, Grand Anna, was excused from the third race Friday. An examination revealed that the filly, a double winner here, had developed sore ankles. Willie Pool, who has been out of the saddle for some time, is contemplating a return to silks and has started to reduce. He is hopeful of shaving off fifteen or twenty pounds within the next few weeks. A. J. Minor has been here for several days booking cars for the shipment of thoroughbreds now being campaigned here to several other points where racing will be conducted following the close of the Latonia Jockey Clubs thirty-seven day meeting, which reaches its climax on July 4. Henry Hufesaar was an arrival with his one-horse stable, which is made up of the filly Blanche C, and the horse went into quarters on the outside of the track. Baylor O. Hickman was called to Louisville to attend the burial of his mother, Mrs. Stanye O. Hickman, who died at the familys summer home in Cobourg, Canada. The body was brought to Louisville for interment. Mrs. Hickman, the former Stanye j Ormsby, has been ill of heart trouble for several years.
