CARLOV1NIAN raced true from the start and shook off early opposition, responded when called upon, but was bearing over slightly toward the inside in the final sixteenth and outlasted SCROOGE in the last strides. The latter swerved in the early runnine, moved up steadily on the inside and, under severe pressure, was wearing the winner down at the end. WISE ALIBI raced forwardly from the start, made a determined bid on the inside and finished well. SEVENTH INNING swerved badly in the early running toward the outside, moved up with determination when called upon in the final eighth, but hung at the end. ZOR began slowly, but made up some ground under hard urging. ROCKABYE BABE had early speed, but faltered badly. The others had no excuses. Scratched 33119Proprietary, 105; 34012 Cherry Chic, 105. AMAGANSETT outran his opposition from the start, made a bad landing at the sixth fence, but recovered quickly and, then under mild urging, shook off determined opposition from HIDEAWAY and helj him safe to the end. RIDEAWAY bobbled at several of his fences, made several determined bids, but was not good enough. BLACKCOCK did not fancy the soft footing and was outrun from the start and was not persevered with when hopelessly beaten. THIRD RACE 3-4 MILE Widener Course. SUNFHANTOM, a forward factor all the. way, moved up with determination when called upon, made a strong bid inside the final eighth, but hung at the end. STYLISTIC broke well and then bore steadily to the outside, but could not menace the leaders under urging. TOP RADIO showed a flash of early speed, but tired badly in the final eighth. STAR SHADOW was kept close to the pace from the start under steady restraint, moved into command rounding the far turn and then drew away, winning with speed in reserve. ROYAL FOX was shuffled back in the early running, improved his position steadily and then outlasted CAUGHT in the closing drive. The latter dropped back after the break, overcame early interference and finished well at the end. SUNANAIR was well up, but in close quarters between the leaders the first half mile, then flattened out badly in the stretch run. BALIOS, on the inside and close up from the start, had no mishaps and was not persevered with when beaten. FIFTH RACE 1 1-16 MILES. Dot, Sept. 7, 1923 1:425 3 100. The latter was close up from the start, but came to the outside entering the stretch, made a determined bid when called upon, but hung at the end. FRANK ORMONT was blocked on the inside going to the far turn, was forced to take up and come to the outside, and closed gamely at the end. WINTER SPORT was rushed into command after the break, was rated along steadily but faltered badly in the stretch run. GOLDEN WAY moved up with determination on the inside in the early stages, saved ground entering the stretch and then quit. FREE AGAIN had no mishaps. ABBOTS LAST was outrun.
