REDUCE MOUNT ROYAL PURSES MONTREAL, Que., Oct. 1. At a meeting of the horsemen held this morning the management of the Mount Royal course announced that under present conditions it is impossible to continue to pay the purse values offered and that starting Friday, October 2, the purses will be reduced 00 each, making the purses 00, 00 and 00. The management announced that owing to the poor handle in the mutuels and the disagreeable weather which has held the attendance down they would be able to continue with the purse reductions rather than see the course, which has operated for the past twenty-five years, close with an incompleted meeting. The division of the 00 purses will be as follows: 25 to winner, 5 to second, 5 to third, and to fourth.
