CURLING was quickest to begin and, revelling in the going, withstood determined opposition from PROSECUTOR to draw out through the last eighth. PROSECUTOR, in closest pursuit of the winner from practically the start, tired nearing the finish and had to be placed under severe pressure to hold BRAMBLE RUN safe. The latter lacked speed to keep up early, worked his way up on the outside and closed well. WROUGHT IRON closed some ground in the final quarter. SPITTENIMAGE, kept within striking distance of the leaders under slight reserve, gave way badly when called upon. Scratched 24263 Edri, 105. Overweight Gay Canter, 1 pound. OCONNELL was prominently placed all the way and continued in determined fashion to the end. THREATENING was away well, dropped back after rounding the far turn and came again on the outside through the stretch. AIRY SONNET was well placed throughout, .saved ground at the stretch turn, but was unable to threaten. GREAT SHAKES was unable to reach the leaders. GOLD SWEEP was far back throughout. The latter had speed all the way and came again after being supplanted in the lead. SCOUT PLANE was slow to begin, was forced to work her way up on the outside and finished willingly. HOLLUSCHICKIE was well placed throughout and tired under urging in the last eighth. MORE POISE was unable to make up any ground under urging. SCOTCH BOY was outrun throughout. AIR LINE, quickest to begin, lacked speed to keep up and never was able to endanger the leaders. LADDIE STONE displayed keen speed .in pacemaking, then faltered in the closing three-sixteenths. The latter was unable to keep up early, swung to the outside in the stretch, closed with a rush and just failed to get up. GRANDMAS BOY forced the early pace and held on stubbornly to the end. PADDYS SISTER moved up fast on the outside after going the opening eighth, wore down SO HIGH for the command midway around the turn, drew out when reaching the stretch and held DASH IN safe. .The latter worked his way up steadily and closed with a rush through the stretch. SO HIGH had speed from the start, but tired in the last three-sixteenths. APPLE FRITTER dropped back nearing the far turn and was unable to enter into serious contention thereafter. INSULATED drew away into a long lead and began tiring in the last eighth and, under punishment, was never threatened. ORTHOPRISM moved up steadily in the first half mile and closed gamely through the last quarter mile. WHIPPER CRACKER, away slowly and outrun until midway of the back stretch, moved up steadily leaving the back stretch and held on well to the end. BALAPIN was restrained early, made a game bid midway of the far turn, moved up briefly only to tire in the final quarter mile. STEALTH was unable to keep pace.
