LONG TREK PURSE AT CRETE NEXT WEDNESDAY CRETE, 111.. Oct. 1. Rounding out the scries of marathon events which Lincoln Fields patrons were promised by Col. M. J. Winn.executive director of the track, is a contest of .two miles and a furlong, which is scheduled for, decision next Wednesday when it will featijje the program. It is aptly namedtheLong Trek Purse. Thls race, one of the longest ever run over a Chicagojjrrack, will find the contestants making tvo,complete trips around the mile and a sixteenth track. Preliminaries leading upto thlscvent were a mile and a quarter race awcek ago and a mile and a half contest Wednesday. Next weeks final of the series is for three-year-olds and upward and, like the previous two marathon races, will be governed by claiming conditions. With several other good races, including the Mapleton Purse, for two-year-olds, and a grade "C" handicap, for older horses, the program may be one of the highlights of the current meeting.
