T0RRIENTE STABLE FIRST ARRIVAL AT FAIR GROUNDS NEW ORLEANS, La., Oct 1. The first shipment of horses to be campaigned at the Fair Grounds this winter was slated to arrive Thursday from Detroit, there being fifteen head that will race in the silks of the Cuban patron H. Torriente. Racing secretary Leigh announced they were given special permission to enter the grounds at this time, although the formal date for the reception of horses is not until October 15. In the Torriente string are I Pass, My Blaze, Axtel, Broadway Girl, Fair Time, Rizla, Virbet, High Santa, Willow Wood, Miss Marlboro, Skotchy, Gay Banner, Banners Flying, Rolling Wheels and Son Richard. Mr. Torriente accompanied the shipment along with jockey Carlos Mojena, who led the riders at the Fair Grounds last winter Torriente and Mojena will depart for Havana, Cuba, for a visit while the horses are rested preparatory to the winter opening here Thanksgiving Day.
