TRANSPORT, away slowly and raced wide throughout, improved his position gradually, drew into a long lead approaching the final eighth and won in hand. DORIS B., under vigorous riding from the start, lost much ground on the turn, was inclined to bear to the inside in the stretch and closed well. TARPING had speed from the start, but tired badly in the final three-sixteenths, yet outstayed MR. JAMES. The latter, on the inside much of the race, could not get to the leaders and also faltered in the drive. DOMINO PLAYER quit. HARPEN BELLE was going fairly well in the last stages. ELEANOR C. forced the pace under mild urging, came through on the inside entering the stretch, drew into a good lead under pressure, but was taken in hand in the final eighth. BRITISH TAN, never a great distance back, closed with determination and, after wearing down FLORID, outstayed OZANA. The latter, well up from the start, held on courageously in the drive. FLORID faltered in the final quarter. CITY LIMIT began fast, but was taken under restraint when outrun, went to the outside on the turn and failed to rally when placed to strong ursine. SANDORA, fractious en route to the post, was practically left at the start and showed a fine effort. MAGIC LAD had no mishaps. FORT ESTILL began slowly. OGEE, having speed from the start but eased back when racing on the inside and in close quarters on the turn, came in determined fashion after reaching the stretch and outgamcd BAY MEMOR in a hard drive. The latter, raced very wide early and also having speed from the start, took a clear advanlatc on the stretch turn and continued well under strong handling thereafter, but was not good enough. BATTING EYE moved up between horses on the turn, was under vigorous riding in the final quarter and also held on well. CHERAW could not get up, but held on stubbornly in his good effort. TAD tired after moving up in the stretch. HIGH POCKETS closed boldly. STIMULATOR pulled up lame. MUCKER quit badly in the stretch. BRIGHT BUBBLE showed a flash of speed. MISS BALKO. sent into command under urging and steadied on the turn, continued well under energetic riding after reaching the stretcli, but had little left. PECOS, away slowly and remaining far out of it for a half mile, came to the outside in the stretch and closed boldly. STAR BESS raced wide much of the race and held on with cood courage. HAPPY ROAD was in close quarters on the turn and also closed impressively. LEONA HEIGH received a hustling ride and gave way slowly in the final three-sixteenths. MARIE JEAN secured room between horses in the early stages, was under strong riding to keep up, gradually wore down the leaders in the stretch, where she came to the outside and drew out fast in the final seventy yards. BARANCA forced the early pace under strong restraint, took a short lead as he responded to pressure in the stretch and held on well, tut was no match for the winner. DROMBO, a strong factor from the start, rallied mildly when shaken up in the stretch, then faltered badly after reaching the last eighth. PRINCE JOHN held on well. BLACK PETER, shuflled back early, lacked speed and was not a factor thereafter. ROBERTA could not improve her position. GRAY PORTE, placed on the outside at the start, quit badly in the stretch. BILLBO, under urging from the start, saved ground on the turn, came around PANIC RELIEF when closing with determination under increased pressure and drew out fast after getting up. PANIC RELIEF displayed fine speed for the going from the start, opened up a long lead before reaching the turn, was briskly shaken up soon after entering the stretch and tired in the final eighth, but held KENTUCKY BLUES safe. The latter, also under energetic riding from the start, rallied mildly soon after reaching the stretch, but tired in the final eighth. BOSTON MARY dropped out of it suddenly after entering the stretch. MARICA was outrun. LADY MONTROSE suffered light interference at the start, loafed badly in the early stages and was never a factor.
