ANGELITA, going in "her best form and having speed from the start, took a short lead when shaken up on the stretch turn and, holding on well while under severe pressure the final three-sixteenths, outgamed ALBINO. The latter rushed to the lead on the inside in the first quarter and, under vigorous riding throughout, held on with good courage but was not good enough. KERRY WAYS, also a sharp factor from the start, dropped back slightly soon after reaching the stretch, but came again and outfinished FLYING BREEZE. The latter, well up from the start, lost ground throughout and held on well in a good effore. PRINCESS BEE failed to keep up. MERETA and THOMAS JR. showed nothing. TOP" TAX, raced wide and under light restraint until reaching the final quarter, stood mild pressure, gamely the last three-sixteenths and, wearing down BEGINNERS BATT, appeared . ready to draw -out. The latter, a factor from the start and saving ground on the turn, swerved out after, .taking a short lead in the stretch and held on well, but could not withstand the winner. BUNNY MARTIN. s"tumblcd shortly after the .start, was kept on the. inside throughout .and tired after Hearing the leaders, but outstayed. BACK LOG. The latter, raced wide, moved up strongly entering the stretch, then dropped back, but came again mildly. OTTOMAN displayed good speed from the start, bore out on the turn and faltered in the stretch. JIRASOL II.- was outrun. CHERRY TIME did not extend himself. DARK MIST racfjl wide throughout and, rated alone; under snug restraint lor about five-eighths, closed well under vigorous riding and shook off FAIR CYNTHIA in the final sixteenth. The latter, a strong factor from the start, held on courageously. MARY CARDINAL, shuffled back when on the inside in the opening quarter, moved up on the inside entering the stretch but tired in the late stages. ATIT raced wide throughout. NORMAN D. lacked speed. PAPENIE, taken under light restraint when unable to outrun HEELFLY early, but under strong pressure after reaching the last five-sixteenths, held on with fine courage and, wearing down HEELFLY in the last sixteenth, won drawing dear. The latter, fractious it the post but away well, had fine speed from the start, swerved out slightly in the stretch and faltered in the final eighth and could not withstand the winner. DANGER POINT, beginning sluggishly, was kept on the inside throughout, stood pressure gamely in the final quarter and overtook GIN DAISY in the last sixteenth. The latter, under restraint early, failed to rally to urging and swerved out in the stretch. COL. GOODNIGHT began slowly. HEARTY displayed early speed. MARTIN BARTON hustled into the lead, but taken in hand after a quarter, saved ground after the first five-sixteenths and was under pressure after reaching the last three-eighths and held on well. HEART BREAK, taken back after a quarter. lost ground on the stretch turn and closed well in a good effort. BOILING POINT tired in the drive. KIEVAN, away fast but timidily handled early, reared the leaders when placed to pressure on the far tum, but quit badly in the last three-eighths. CROUT AU POT forced the early pace under strong restraint, took command quickly approaching the stretch and, continuing well under occasional mild pressure, held sway thereafter. CHASTITY, also under stout reserve early, could not get to the winner when placed to pressure, yet held on gamely. HOPE ETERNAL, sharply blocked on the first turn, moved up leaving the back stretch and raced evenly thereafter. VOLTA MAID tired badly after five-eighths. SICKLEBILL was badly offside early, but closed going well. SKI had no mishaps. AUKAI ran out badly. Overweight Crout au Pot, 5 pounds; Chastity, 2; Hope Eternal, 1. Corrected weight Volta Maid, 107.
