t ARLINGTON DOWNS NOTES " S : - and With quite a number of nominations already filed,--general manager Trav Daniel anticipates a crack field for the ,500 added Dallas Centennial Handicap, which as the principal race of the Arlington Downs meeting for three-year-olds will be decided at one mile and a sixteenth, one week from Saturday. Entries will close Saturday. The I. T. Houston stable here in charge of J. W. Bernard, is composed of Chiefs Ranger, Busy Mae, Mildred Zim, Me Me Barton and two others. Including such useful performers as Gay Bill, Impeach, Mymiss, Indian Salute and Hildur Prince, the stable of Z. E. McGregor should furnish several winners during the meeting. D. Howell, with Able Abe, Paniflo, Par-qua Pass and Stormy Rhythm, owned by J. F. Smith, was among Wednesdays arrivals. Cheatham Park, steward representing the Texas State Racing Commission, came here from Houston and among the first to reach Arlington Downs Thursday morning, personally directed pre-ppening details of importance to the state racing board. A. G. Davidson, assistant to Mrs. Elizabeth M. Thweatt, secretary of the racing commission, has been here several days accepting applications for licenses, color registrations, etc. Park served in a similar capacity at the Waggoner track last spring. Guy L. Waggoner, chairman of the state racing commission and one of the owners of Arlington Downs, has been here for several weeks and plans to be present throughout the meeting. Commissioners Robert B. Anderson and J. E. McDonald are expected to come here from Austin for some of the more important racing during the five and one-half weeks Arlington will operate.
