JERE took command at once, responded well when subjected to punishment and. though failing to hold the winner, finished gamely. SUN DORA, under good urging throughout, tired in the final quarter, but withstood OH DOLLY. The latter saved ground and closed well. PRAIRIE KING had no mishaps. GOLD STEP followed the early pace under occasional pressure, failed to menace the winner, but held ESCOSTAR safe. The latter, on the inside and sharply roused throughout, had no mishaps. LEVI COOKE raced evenly. MERE SATIN never threatened. The latter, a factor from the start, moved up strongly on the inside after a half mile and finished well. STORMY OCEAN lacked early speed, but worked his way up gradually after a quarter and finished with good courage. MAGIC LAD was through after five-eighths. NEDPORTE refused to extend himself. SIR AJAX. reserved off the early pace, saved ground, came through on the inside on the stretch turn and, responding to strong tactics, wore down LUCID and stalled off COUNTESS BYE. The latter, a factor from the starti forged to the front after about five-eighths, lost ground on the stretch turn and then finished strongly. -LUCID had good speed from the start, took the lead after a quarter, lost command briefly to COUNTESS BYE approaching the far turn and then continued well when subjected to punishment, lis KEEN, unable to keep up early, closed with fine speed in the final quarter.
