DETROIT TURF NOTES ; i According to word received by James Smith, who -has a division of the C. S. Howard stable here, the Howards will arrive here Saturday for an indefinite visit. Eddie Barnes, who is training the division of the Bomar Stable quartered here, took a call on the services of jockey Frank Grill, who is with the E. E. Rusell stable. Trainer Matt Jordan announced today that J. W. Galbreath, owner of the Darby Dan Stable, has decided to abandon the nom de course and that in the future the horses will race under their owners name. Jockey Tyrus Meloche suffered a foot injury when San Lu carried him into the outside fence, soon after the start of the seventh race Wednesday. An X-ray revealed that no bones were broken, but the lad will be out of the saddle for several days. G. E. Lewis Bichloride, which unloaded here suffering with shipping fever, has fully recovered and Lewis hopes to return the plater to training in the near future. Jockey C. Critchfield arrived from Toronto and reported to J. Hutton, trainer of the H. R. Bain stable. Critchfield was astride High Flag in the- substitute race Thursday. I. J. Collins Debate, Bushmaster, Musical Jackand Leesburg arrived from Beulah Park and were turned over to trainer Al Miller. Courtneys Pet suffered a broken bone in his foot while galloping last week, an X-ray examination revealed toddy: The horse will be sent to the farm to Tie turned out until fall.
