SIGNS BILL UNDER PROTEST Speaker. Calvert of Texas House States Racing May Be Possible Under Court Injunction. AUSTIN, Tex., June 10. Speaker Robert W. Calvert, of the house of representatives, has signed the bill repealing mutuels in Texas, under protest, and he explained to the house Wednesday, his -objection to . the bill by saying it bore a certificate stating that a point of order was raised against senate consideration. As a result of this, speaker Calvert said, there had developed "considerable thought" that racing might be possible this fall under court injunctions. Lieutenant governor Woodull, who attached thecertificate to the bill on motion of anti-repealists, gave it as his dpinin that it would not affect the validity of the act. Governor Allred has postponed signing the bill in order that all senators who voted for engrossment might be on hand for moving picture purposes.
