FLAMING TORCH was hard ridden early in an effort to keep up, swung to the outside when reaching the stretch and, closing with a rush, was up in th.e closing stride. CHATUGA, rated along back of the leaders, moved up stoutly when reaching the stretch and fought it out gamely to the end. SUNDAD displayed good speed in the paccmaking, was hard ridden to show the way to PROSECUTOR and held on tenaciously to the close. PROSECUTOR forced the pace throughout and held on gamely in the final drive. BE THERE closed some ground after racing well back early but could not reach the leaders. THISTLE AIR closed with a belated rush after trailing far back and appearing hopelessly out of the running. MISS TROPHY quit badly. STEP AWAY was shuffled back slightly in the first few strides, moved up menacingly, but dropped back suddenly. He pulled up lame. JODA was restrained early while working her way up gradually, responded gamely to urging and, wearing down BYE BYE MARY, outlasted the latter at the end. BYE BYE JvURY improved her position steadily, wore down HORNET for the command and, despite holding on well, was unable to stave off the winners bid. ST. MORITZ was well placed throughout and went willingly in the closing drive. ONUS was shuffled back at the start and closed a big gap. NOTICE ME was far back early, made up a kit of ground in the last quarter mile and came forward well. ASTRA was unable to reach the leaders. KEEP CHERRY was blocked nearing the stretch and had to take back. ANY CHANf E had good speed for the first three-quarters. STONE MARTIN tired. HUSKIE BOY, quickest to begin, drew clear in the opening eighth, met a determined bid from STAGE BEAUTY midway of the turn, opened up when reaching the stretch and was never seriously threatened. STAGE BEAUTY was prominently placed throughout and held on gamely to the end. BOLD TURK was forwardly placed all the way and continued with good energy to the close. DON LOPEZ had good speed, made an attempt to go along with the winner, was not good enough and saved all possible ground. COAL KING was unable to improve his position. FAMILY FRIEND went evenly. BILL FARNSWORTH went to the front at once, drew clear in the opening quarter mile, increased his load when reaching the stretch and was never menaced, winning with speed to spare. THE FIGHTER, well placed all the way, made his effort to reach the leader nearing the stretch, moved up briefly, but was not good enough, although continuing gamely to the end. LADY HIGLOSS, kept within striking distance of the winner, was unable to improve her position under punishment and barely lastd long enough to save third. CLINGENDAAL came stoutly on the outside through the last eighth. REAPING was unable to threaten. TRINA trailed until rounding the far turn, closed gamely on the outsjde through the stretch run and raced well thereafter. SUN CELERINA was unable to enter into serious contention. PEGGY PORTER, hard ridden in an effort to overtake the pacemaker, faltered when straightening out for the stretch run. PORCELLUS had good speed for the first five-eighths, tiring thereafter. UP AND UP was not hurried during the early running, began bettering his position in thelast three-. eighths and, coming to the outside of the leaders in the stretch, wore down GALLACLAY in the last sixteenth GALLACLAY followed within striking distance of the pace, moved into command and, despite holding on willingly, was unable to cope with the stretch challenge of the winner, TROUPER disposed of HOLLUSCHICKIE for the command by the time the back stretch was reached, but was unable to keep pace in the drive. SINGERS FOLLY, permitted to drop farther back than usual in the early running, went up fast on the outside rounding the far turn and was unable to close any ground through the stretch. THUMBS DOWN improved his position gradually after straightening out on the back stretch, came around on the outside to wear down IPSO FACTO for the lead and, continuing gamely to the end, held FURFIBER safe. The latter, steadied along until the final quarter mile, moved up stoutly on the inside of the winner, loomed up menacingly at the eighth post, but was unable to close any ground thereafter. SIR MICHAEL was prominently placed the entire trip and held on stubbornly to the end. UP AND DOING, buffeted about in the crowding that occurred at the first turn, was far back until rounding the far turn, closed a big and turned in a creditable effort. WISE WILL was going gamely at the end. BUSTED BOY, bumped at the first turn, was unable to make up any ground when called upon. SONGSTONE was prominently placed throughout and held on with good energy to the end. ROYAL TREAD was well up throughout arid held on with good courage to the end. MORALIST was unable to close any ground in the drive. SHOT AND SHELL displayed good speed for three-quarters, tiring thereafter. MAR PAL had brief early speed. MELODY LANE was far.. back throughout.
