t AGAWAM TURF NOTES I s Racing secretary M. C. Shea arid Mrs. Shea celebrated their first wedding anniversary last Tuesday and had as their guests officials and close friends. Jack Toole, in "charge of admissions at Agawam Park, reports that attendance for the first twelve days here will surpass the 100,000 mark. This is a great increase over the patronage of last year and is a mark that satisfies the manager. Reports from Mercy Hospital on the condition of jockey J. OMalley stated that the rider passed a restful night. Jockey C. Eye became a full-fledged jockey when he rode his fortieth winner astride Douglas F. in the eighth race on Friday. James Ross, Jr., departed for Delaware Park after the final race on Saturday to assist in arranging final details for the open ing of Ihe Stanton track: Ross has been serving as placing judge and clerk of the scales here and will fill a similar role at Delaware Park. Charles Raynor has severed his connections as trainer of the A. F. East horses and will devote his time in the future to those that race in his own interest. Raynor holds the contract on jockey A. Schmidl, who is one of the leading riders here. Leo Echle, well known mutuel manager, has been discharged from Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Mass., where he has been a patient for several weeks recovering from an attack of flu. Echle Is on the calculating staff at Agawam Park at present. A draft of the Mrs. F. A. Clark horses that were campaigned at the recent Belmont Park meeting arrived and were taken over by trainer H. Langley. Horsemen and racing patrons will have a respite from racing at Agawam Park Monday, which is an off day in the schedule of the thirty-six day meeting. Racing will be resumed Tuesday and will go along without interruption.
