VAN HASTINGS, far back early, responded gamely when hard urged, came to the outside in the stretch and, finishing gamely, got up to win in the final stride. TWO BROOMS, under slight restraint early, moved up gamely on the outside, took a short lead approaching the finish, but could not withstand the winner. DAME GRUNDY, under restraint for the first half mile, took the lead with a rush on the lower turn, drew clear entering the stretch, but tired badly in the final drive. SISTER IKIE dropped back on the lower turn, came on again in the stretch and was going well at the end. CATWALK tired badly. AIRZON quit. QUICK SALE, far back early, improved her position gradually, came, to the outside in the stretch and, finishing gamely, wore down FORCEFUL, drawing away at the end. FORCEFUL forced the early pace under restraint, raced GYPSIE CHIEF into the ground, took a big lead entering the stretch, but tired badly in the last seventy yards. GYPSIE CHIEF took the lead at the first turn, was rated along under restraint, gave way when challenged and tired badly in the last eighth. SPARKLING ROSE showed a good effort. ORKIN quit badly.
