Start poor and slow. Won easily; second and third driving. THROTTLE WIDE showed speed from the start while racing true, shook opposition off in the final quarter mile and drew away at the finish. ROSEMAIN. fractious at the post, bore over toward the outside, was placed under severe pressure and outlasted RIVER PIRATE in the final drive. The latter, away slowly, gained cround steadily through the final quarter mile. COUNORA swerved to the extreme inside after the start and finished well. PROSPECTUS faltered under pressure at the end. THE IMMORTAL II. was taken back under restraint when outrun, improved his position when urged, responded nearing the final fence, disposed of opposition and had speed in reserve at the end. SANTI QUARANTI jumped well and showed speed on the flat, and had no mishaps. TIOGA, a forward factor from the start, was placed under pressure the second turn of the field and held on well. SPINACH was as good as left, made up ground steadily and finished with determination. KOSAN had no mishaps in the running. Overweight — Kosan, 2 pounds. ■ THIRD RACE 5-8 MILE Widener Course. REPELLER was close up from the start, but was bearing slightly nearing the finish. STEAM ROLLER was racing true on the inside, was taken up and steered between horses nearing the final eighth and shut off. JACAROO could not keep up. BOLD MESSAGE raced ereenly all the way. RED GLARE was eased back off the early pace, improved his position when urged and finished well. PLAY GOLD lacked early speed, but was bothered nearing the stretch turn. BE QUAINT was in close quarters in the early running. GALAGAL showed early speed and then quit. SOME COUNT was shuffled back rounding the far turn. RED JACK quit badly in the stretch run. MONEY MUDDLE made up ground in the final eighth from a slow beginning. ANNE G. was close up in the early stages, but faltered steadily in the stretch run. SOMALI was outrun from the start.
