1 WOODBINE PARK NOTES * S — g Ex-jockey Freddie Stevens, recently recovered from a long illness, has taken out j an agents license with the I. C. R. A. and will handle the book of jockey C. Ralls. Art Halliwell brought in Aperitif, Red Label, Izaak Walton and Chat Eagle from Suffolk Downs. The horses are stabled at Thorncliffe Paik and will be vanned down for engagements at Woodbine Park. Willie Cannon has taken out a jockeys license with the I. C. R. A. and will ride free lance. Cannon at one time rode for E. R. Bradley and is a pupil of H. G. Bedwell. C. Frosh is among the late arrivals. Cessna is the only horse in his stable at this j time. He came from Hamilton. E. Barker is a newcomer to the riding j ranks this season. H. Neville has the I youngster under contract. E. Milner, an assistant starter at Woodbine i Park, suffered a painful injury Monday morning while assisting in the schooling at I the gate. He had the ligaments torn in his ] right knee and was taken to the East Gen-1 eral Hospital. R. Russell departed for Agawam Park Monday evening. Included in the shipment were the platers Air King, Stormer and Stomay. G. Castle, of Buffalo, who wintered his filly Dorothy Day in Canada, also departed with the shipment. Owner W. F. Morrissey received numerous I telegrams from friends wishing him luck in j the Plate. Chief among the list and one which Mr. Morrissey greatly appreciated, came from the Newsboys Association of Toronto, of which, in his early days, Mr. Morrissey was a member. J. B. Miller of Montreal is quartered at | Thorncliffe Park with Rebecca Lee, Little j Clara and Slavonia. He_ also has in his I charge two juveniles the property of Leo | Dandurand. Montreal sportsman and track Operator. Both are geldings by Brother Joe, I and are name dBrodea and Cattaii. H. McCherry, who purchased Calgary Fire I at a reecnt sale at Couldter Bros., turned her ! i over to W. Kramer to train. | Mr. and Mrs. Leo Dandurand arrived from Montreal to witness the running of the ! i Kings Plate, and plan to take in two or three days sport here before returning to the Quebec metropolis. Vercheres Stables Loterer, which showed a fine effort in the opening race Saturday, suffered bucked shins in the running and will be on the shelf for a few days. H. C. Hatchs Budsis also bucked in the running.
