DAILY ARRIVALS AT DETROIT Large Number of Stables Shipping to Motor City Course. New Stand for Stewards and Judges Has Three Decks — Inaugural Program Next Saturday. DETROIT, Mich., May 23. -With the many improvements completed and the thoroughbred colony increasing hourly, Detroit is ready for its spring meeting, which opens Saturday. The last of changes to be completed were the three deck stewards and judges stand and the projection booth for displaying pictures of the finish in the main betting enclosure. During the past several days some of the more important stables to reach hero were the Valley Grey, Motor City, A. J. Abel, Fred M. Alger, Jr., Mrs. Edward McCuan, Mrs. T. Stevenson, H. E. York, Bomar Stable, Mrs. M. M. Johr, Greenfield Stable and others. The Valley Grey arrived from River Downs and included Miss Bull Dog, Windshield, Red Garter and others. Eddie | Barnes brought a division of the Bomar Stable, which comprised Frisco Kid, Biscayne Blue, Fancy That, Hazel Nut, Detroit Bull, Jeanctte, Colonel Maid, Mr. Jacko and Our Chuckie. Abel, whose horses have always played a prominent part in the Detroit season, unloaded Sir Moles, Orphan, Birds Flight, ! Haunted House, Company Halt, Greenski ! and Brilliant Blue. McCuan wintered his stock at his farm in ! Southern Illinois and they have been here I for several days. D. Knight, brother to Mel-vin Knight, is with the McCuan stable. In addition to Tempestuous, handicap star of the Detroit fall season, Frank Ray has Abbatoro, Javamocha, Icy Wind, Hit and Run, Wise King and Runamuck for Mrs. I Tom Stevenson. The sprinter Appealing tops the Motor j City Stable, which will be augmented by five horses coming from Beulah Park, five from Maryland and several from the W. C. Good-loe farm in Kentucky.
