BRAXTON, hustled hard to hold a prominent position and racing on the outside, moved up swiftly ncaring the stretch, closed strongly in the last eighth and came out after displacing the leaders in the last sixteenth. EVENING LIGHT was rushed off her feet after the start to reach a forward position and tired after getting to the front in the closing eighth. ZENANA bettered her position on the outside and closed gamely. BASS WOOD was weakly ridden, but closed a good gap. LADY TIMAROLE was used up setting the pace- and tired in the last quarter mile. DINAMITA was done after going a half mile. EXTRA GOOD was outrun. NO RISK broke slowly and was never a threat. SOUTHERN AYRE showed a flash of early speed. PRATTLER moved to the front after clearing the second fence, was full of run while fencing nicely, shook off PROMOTER easily when challenged at the twelfth fence, then finished nicely in hand at the end. PROMOTER was closest to the winner in the last mile and a half mile, made a stout effort at the twelfth fence, then was held safe in the final drive. VALPUISEAUX was steadied to all of his fences, jumped well throughout and finished gamely to outstay WAR PORT. The latter was in the first flight from the beginning and continued gamely. PLAIN PEGGY failed to enter contention at any stage. BAFFLER was always far back. LITTLE SWEDE fell at the ninth fence and broke his right rear leg. He was destroyed. LADY SOLACE, away in a tangle and far back for the first half mile, circled her field and finished determinedly under punishment to get up in the last few strides. BALKAN WAR was placed to intermittent punishment in the early stages while going forwardly, drove through on the inside of OF COURSE midway of the turn to get to the front, raced into a clear lead, but quit under punishment. OF COURSE had much taken out of him racing XANTHEIN into defeat and tired in the last three-sixteenths. MY SHADOW was hard urged for the entire trip and finished gamely under punishment. GRASS CUTTER, away nicely and having much speed, forced a fast early pace, disposed of BLUEFIELD midway of the turn, opened up a long lead entering the stretch, but had to be shskon up vigorously to withstand CARVOLA. The latter dwelt when the start came to drop far out of contention, moved up strongly in the last five-sixteenths while racing wide, then closed with a bold rush. TIME SIGNAL was always prominent and held on well to the finish. C-NOTE was ridden hard, but could not better his position. ZOSTERA was unable to threaten. LITTLE TIME, slow to get going and racing in tight quarters until ncaring the stretch, swung to the outside for racing room, closed full of run and was up in the last fifty yards. ROYAL BUSINESS worked her way forward steadily after reaching the back stretch, wore down the leaders on the stretch turn to draw clear, but had too much taken out of her and faltered in the last sixteenth. KAI-MIN was crowded back on the first turn, bettered his position steadily after recovering and finished on the inside in the closing test. LABOR DAY was a stout contender from the start and hold on gamely. BUDS QUEEN was rushed hard from the start and had little left when the real test came. COMPANY HALT, away slowly, closed a big gap. ODDESA LAD tired. ROCKY MEADOW and FRANK BROOKE raced themselves into defeat earlv. AETHELWOLD outran his field to the first turn, was steadied nicely while setting a steady pace, shook off BROWN KNIGHT, swung wide into the stretch to carry JOLLY TAR extremely wide, then hung on tenaciously and barely lasted long enough. JOLLY TAR was placed on the outside of the stalls for the start, broke slowly, to drop far out of contention, raced to his field rapidly midway of the final turn, engaged the winner at the stretch turn, then was carried very wide all during the stretch run. A claim of foul against the winner was disallowed. BLINI was rated forwardly, made a mild bid at the final turn, then tired fast. SUNNYSHORE could not menace seriously. BILLMAR raced in spots. WHITE SAND, nursed along in the early running until settled in stride, moved up on the outside when reaching her field, wore down the leaders when straightening into the stretch and came out under light urging. SIR REG, permitted to gain his best stride before making his run, rallied gamely and closed with good energy. DISSEMBLER fell back on the final turn when caught in close quarters, then came again in the final drive when clear. ICY WIND opened up a wide lead early and saved ground, but tired when caught. BRIGHT MARK met strongcontention from CORNWALLIS in the first seven-eighths, saved ground, but was unable to withstand, the winner. INVERMARK, permitted to drop far out of contention and racing below his true form, passed tiring horses in the late stages. CORNWALLIS was a stout factor for seven-eighths, then tired.
