TORONTO, Ont., Oct. 11 Lipton, homebred Bachelor Skipper and Briny Breezes gelding, racing for the Cosgrave Stable, drove to a popular victory in the running of the New Toronto Purse, feature of the semifinal day of the Long Branch meeting. Ridden by Sterling Young for his eighth victory of the meeting, the Cosgrave Stable gelding held a head advantage before P. Mecklenbergs Hittie at the end of the six furlongs. Third place went to G. F. Potters Penabud, a length and one-half back and a nose before H. C. Hatchs Amneris. A good crowd was in attendance for the sixth days sport of the Long Branch Jockey Clubs fall meeting. Clear skies with warm weather prevailed, while the racing strip was at its best. There was no delay at the start in the feature and Clark sent them away at once. Worthy Duke was the first to show in the lead, but was quickly joined by Lipton, racing on the inside, and Penabud, on the outside. The three raced to the half mile post as one, Worthy Duke holding a head lead and Lipton slightly before Penabud.
