IRISH SETTER displayed high speed from the beginning under mild rating, saved ground throughout and was hard ridden to maintain advantage to the end. DOC JOCK dwelt at the start, movpd up rapidly on the outside, raced to the inside rounding the turn, then came to the outside of the leader in i the stretch while reducing his lead steadily. THE GREETER broke smartly, was knocked back by BILBOQUET neanng the far turn, was sent forward again on the outside, but tired near the end. VOLITATION broke fast, could not keep up, but improved position gradually in the final quarter. BILBOQUET, fractious at the post, had good -speed for three-eighths. SPRING MEYER raced evenly. BANJORINE, under mild urging while bidding for the command and racing in between horses, came away in the stretch under strong handling, cutting over to the inside when drawing clear. ALL FORLORN showed good speed from the start, was compelled to lose ground on the turn and hung in the drive. COLONEL HORTON was cased back after the opening quarter, came again entering the stretch, but tired. STARRY FLAG was blocked when attempting to. get through between horses entering the stretch and .was unable to improve his position thereafter. JUST ARRIVED raced evenly. BURGOO "MISS uncorked a brilliant turn of speed to open up a long lead in the first quarter, was taken in hand while saving ground, but tired near the end under urging. FLYING BONNY was in nearest pursuit of the pace from soon after the start and, going evenly, was getting to the winner steadily in the final eighth FLYING LILL was away well, but could not trouble the leaders while holding the others safe. DIXIE GIRL, unable to keep up in the early stages but remaining on the inside, began moving up rapidly entering the final quarter and, lucky to find room along the rail, took command ten yards out. WHITE CASTLE had good speed from the start and raced LADY ARIEL into submission, but could not repel the winner. CHANCE STAR raced to the outside of the leaders in the stretch and improved his position gradually to finish strongly. TIGER TEDDY, taken in hand when outrun, moved up when called upon, but hung near the end. LADY ARIEL tired badly in the final eighth. The others lacked speed. FIFTH RACE 1 1-16 MILES. TORCHY, hard ridden to take a clear lead in the opening quarter, was rated along smoothly thereafter while showing good speed and, saving ground, was shaken up after entering the stretch and was under mild urging to the finish. MERRYMOOD was sent through on the inside with a rush ncaring the far turn, but was unable to shake off VISIGOTH when the latter bore over on him in the stretch until the final stride. VISIGOTH was placed under punishment to gain a contending position on the outside in the stretch, attempted to lug in repeatedly and held on well. ARABS ARROW closed"with a belated rush on the outside. EXCLAIM had no excuses. TUNICA, on the outside throughout, tired in the final three-eighths. BIRTHDAY lacked speed. BOY VALET, rated in close attendance or the pace, was taken to the outside leaving the back stretch and, although compelled to race wide in the stretch, responded gamely to punishment to wear down the leaders and drew out near the end. CHENAULT, well up from the start, was strongly urged to assume a slight lead in the stretch, but tired in the final strides. THIRTEEN STARS came from well back with a rush and finished between horses. BACKINTIME, hustled into a clear lead early, was given a breathing spell in the back stretch, came out entering the stretch, but tired despite powerful handling. BUTTER BEANS rallied too late.
