LAUREL PARK TURF NOTES : Leaving for Erdenheim Farm at Chestnut Hill, Pa., on Tuesday, to attend the funeral of Mrs. John Creevy, wife of the assistant trainer of the George D. Widener stable, were P. F. and J. S. Dwyer, Buddy Hirsch and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Short. General manager Joseph Boyle of the Southern Maryland Agricultural Association, brought over the stake blanks for the five valuable stakes to be run during the thirteen days at Bowie beginning November 16. The features are the Prince George Handicap, ,500 added; the Thomas K. Lynch Memorial, I ,000 added; the Endurance Handicap, ,000 added; the Bryan and OHara Memorial Handicap, 0,000 added; and the W. P. Burch Memorial overnight handicap, ,500 added. Blanks can be obtained from the office .of the racing secretary and closing date has been set for Monday, October 24. Jockey Nick Wall reached here from New York and reported to trainer Matt Brady who has a division of the Wm. Ziegler, Jr., horses on the grounds here. D. B. Midkiff sold the two-year-old colt Col. Scott to Col. C. W. Scott, who raced his string on the Maryland circuit this year. Trainer Larry Daly transacted the deal for the youngster. Trainer John Loftus shipped eleven horses owned by Ji H. Louchheim to Narragansett Park to await the meeting- in New England. B. F. Christmas arrived at Laurel with the good handicap performer Idle Miss and will point the filly for the Laurel Stakes on Saturday. The filly came from Jamaica. Jockey C. Stevenson made a flying visit to Providence and returned here to fulfill engagements. Samuel C. Nuckols, well-known racing official, was a visitor Tuesday stopping off en route to Narragansett Park. N. S. Scava brought the platers Incendiary and Star Mixer here from Rolling Rock, Pa. Jockey Harry Richards returned from Jamaica after riding at the Long Island track on Monday. Trainer B. F. Stutts arrived from Illinois with a draft of the G. H. Emick horses. Jockey H. Le Blanc departed for New York but is expected to return here at a later date. Howard Wells and Sherrill Ward left for Keeneland to atten " i e sales at Lexington. John Ryan arrived here with C. K. Bas-setts Guest of Honour II. and Montpeliers Slievereigh. The shipment came from New York. Jockey Henri Mora departed for Jamaica to ride Rough Time for J. Y. Christmas in. the Interborough Handicap. Jockey T. Luther packed his tack and left for New England to ride at Narragansett Park. Many of the horsemen racing at Laurel are planning to attend the Southern Maryland Agricultural Fair which will open at Marlboro, Md., on Thursday. Dates for the session are Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Pony races, pulling contests and many other attractions are on the daily programs. - The Mrs. E. Denemark Stable at Laurel was increased by the arrival of a dozen horses that came from Chicago. Jockey A. Schlenker and agent T. Price came with the J shipment. Jack London of the Detroit Times, joined the turf scribes here and will remain for the balance of the season to cover for bis paper.
