: I NARRAGANSETT PARK NOTES f $ Making its first appearance in New England, the stable of E. E. Fogelson arrived at Narragansett Park. The shipment consisted of eight horses, headed by Dauber, winner of the 1938 Preakness. Trainer W. Kanatzer is in charge. In one respect the Fogelson stable is the most unique ever seen at Narragansett. Five of the nine horses are greys, in spite of the general aversion of horsemen to animals of this color. The four-year-old gelding Gray Count and the five-year-old Gray Jack, are the best known of the greys in the string. Jimmy Ferris, custodian of the jockeys room, had registered 51 riders at noon Thursday. Jockeys T. Murphy and J. Hari-tos were late arrivals from Detroit. Sammy Williams, leading apprentice rider of the country, accepted seven mounts for his first day at Narragansett. R. L. Hanna arrived from Maryland with the two-year-old gelding Raceaway and the three-year-old filly Book Reader. Tommy Luther, veteran rider, arrived from Laurel. He will remain for the duration of the meeting. Jim OBrey came bringing Golden Spur and Strathdale. Apprentice D. Sena accom-panied him. Six of Ben Listers string were unloaded after shipping from Rockingham. They were Grisette, Happy Picnic, Gala Star, Light Wave, Strategist II., Dark Alice and Elylee. The large stable of Phil Bieber, who is laid up in New York, arrived from Rockingham. "Skip" Shapoff, who has had considerable success with the Bieber horses, is in charge of the string.
