t KEENELAND TURF NOTES f $ -s Ray Hoertz, timer at Churchill Downs, came over from Louisville Thursday to spend the afternoon at Keeneland. E. G. Brown has taken over the veteran campaigner Sunshine Boy to train for J. Chivis. Apprentice J. Littrell returned to the saddle Thursday after canceling his mounts Wednesday due to illness. The veteran campaigners Kapena and Frank Ormont, which have been turned out at Louisville since last spring, will be taken up next week by Nick Burger. The horses will be put back in training for racing at New Orleans. The stewards ordered J. S. McGinnis Great Smoke placed on the veterinarians list. The horse, entered in the seventh race Wednesday, was excused by the stewards because of lameness. All available stables at Keeneland have been taken. Some of the late arrivals found accommodations at the Lexington trotting track. Tommy Root, who has a division of the j C. W. Pershall horses here, is expecting three i more from Chicago. The trio due to reach Keeneland are the property of the Blue Ridge Farm stable. Tom Moran, who has had charge of the stalls at Keeneland, was advised to leave for Shreveport, La., to act in an official capacity. Moran left Friday morning for the Louisiana city. E. E. Minor, traveling agent for the Railway Express Agency, was an arrival from Baltimore. Minor came here to supervise the shipments of yearlings and other horses l to the west coast purchased at the Lexington sales, which came to a close Wednesday night. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Meeks of Huntington, W. Va., ardent racing enthusiasts, were arrivals and will spend the balance of the meeting visiting Nick Burger. Sir Rosser, scratched opening day for lack of identification, has been turned over to J. M. Rector, local trainer, to condition. The three-year-old runs in the interests of Sharpe and Pace. .
