McCamey of Fort Worth, Texas, which consists of one horse at present, will be augmented by the arrival of several more from the Lone Star State farm, the latter part of the week. The Skaal Stable, nom de course of John B. Thorwald of Dallas, Texas, sent two horses from the farm for racing at the Caddo track and several others are to be added later. Those in quarters here at present are Imperial Maryan and Out of Fire. C. A. Roberts brought in Dunfox in the same van J. W. Ransdell had Mary Van Trump. With the opening of the racing secretarys office for the purpose of registering horses on the grounds and the issuance of tions for jockey and trainer licenses, the State Fair Jockey Club here is the scene of considerable activity and racing secretary j Emmette A. Hileman and his office force are j being kept busy preparing the details for j the opening of the season on October 22, which is to be one of the features of the an-j nual Louisiana State Fair, It is now quite certain that horse lovers of this section will be furnished an excellent brand of racing. Horses which have been j campaigned on some of the better mile tracks during the current year are assembled here, and only a few more are to I come. More than 400 stalls are on the grounds, enabling the stabling of some 350 horses for competition.. Several more stables are due to arrive from Fairmount Park, River Downs and later on Sportsmans Park, as reservations have been made from these points, i Not only is the grade of racers an improvement over that of last season, but bet-. ter jockeys will be available, judging from the number of early arrivals. 1 Such youngsters as Johnny Conroy, George Alfonso, Pete Castanova, Art Bal-ducci and others of the apprentice ranks will be in action, while among the more seasoned reinsmen are Tracey Reno, Jimmy Dillea, George Gleason, Joe Frederick, George Miller and Ted King. ; According to word received by officials of the State Jockey Club, several carloads of thoroughbreds are scheduled to depart from River Downs on October 20 with the state fair grounds as their destination, i John Marcum, the property of J. M. Brooks, New Iberia, La., sportsman, arrived from Missouri and suffering a car fit will be unfit for racing during thr coming Shreveport meeting, so trainer Henry Thibodeau has decided to transfer the horse to the I farm for a rest. I Six horses, representing a trio of. Cuban j owners, arrived from Fairmount Park and went into quarters at the track. Those to get in are N. Gonzales Then Some and Fair . Tura; J. Diaz Curling and D. Jardons Phil-trix, Seminole Queen and Smithville. Jockey Tracey Reno, veteran reinsman, put in his appearance, coming from his home , in St. Louis and will do the riding for Virgil Oden, who brought in Harrys Choice and Feng Lu, the property of Mrs. V. Coleman. I George Barrett, who will supervise the State Jockey Club mutuel department, is , scheduled to arrive in Shreveport to look I after applications for mutuel clerks. As many local clerks for the dispensing of tickets and the cashing will be employed, it was announced. Additions to the jockey colony which is increasing daily are J. Frederick, G. Gleason, J. Atkinson, A. Balducci, A. Gaither and P. Castanova. E. K. Tudor was an arrival from Oklahoma with the horses Scholar Girl and Ven-i turesome Lad, while Burt Hodgson came from the same sector with Bobby Easter. 4
