BRAIN TRUST, steadied along back of the pace, moved up on the inside leaving the back stretch, disposed of FREE AGAIN for the lead and drew out in the last sixteenth. GALLANT STROKE was unable to keep pace early, swung to the outside when reaching the stretch and cicsod with a rush, getting up in the last few strides to wear down FREE AGAIN. The latter had speed from the start, withstood repeated bids of HAPPY HOST and WILLOW BUD and only tired through the last three-sixteenths. HAPPY HOST was well placed all the way, but was unable to close any ground in the last quarter mile. TAKEN was unable to reach the leaders. BRYONIN lacked his customary early speed and was far back throughout. SQUABBLE began bearing out and was being eased up when WISE PLAYER collided with him and unseated the rider. OCONNELL gained a forward position soon after straightening out in the back stretch, was under restraint until the last quarter mile, moved up willingly when called upon and outlasted HARRYS DREAM at the end. HARRYS DREAM worked his way up gradually in the" last three-eighths and, wearing down BETHLEHEMSTAR to obtain a slight lead, just failed to hold on long enough. FLAG SONG was slow to begin, moved up gamely leaving the back stretch, loomed up menacingly and, while unable to threaten the leaders, was along in the last stride to wear down the falterine: BETHLEHEMSTAR. MORALIST outran his field from the start, opened up a long lead and, rated along in front, was never seriously threatened. BRIGHT MELODY, in closest chase of the pace for most of the trip, continued with good energy to" the close. BRASS MONKEY, slow to begin as usual, closed a big gap after saving all possible ground. GRANDPAS BOY, on the outside for most of the trip, loomed up gamely midway of the turn, but was unable to close any appreciable amount of ground through the last quarter mile. VICTORIOUS ANN was rated off the early pace, drove through between BE JABBERS and OUR CREST nearing the stretch, raced to the front before reaching the eighth post and drew clear at the line. BE JABBERS raced to the front at once, drew tlear and, rated in front, made a determined bid to go with the leader when challenged, but was not good enough, though continuing determinedly to the close. GHOST QUEEN, hard ridden to keep pace early, swung to the outside when reaching the stretch and, while closing in courageous fashion, was unable to reach the first two. OUR CREST, prominent from the start and saving all possible ground, tired through the last three-sixteenths. WISE COUNSEL, closer to the pace than usual, was unable to close any appreciable amount of ground through the stretch. PALAMEDE trailed throughout, although giving improved speed through the late stages. WOODSAW, in close quarters during the run through the back stretch, was cased back, bided his time until rounding the final turn, raced to the outside approaching the stretch and was drawing away at the end. PUMPGUN was slow to begin as usual and, outpaced until the last quarter mile, came stoutly in the stretch. SUN CAPTURE was prominently placed throughout, but was no match for the first two during the last sixteenth and was hard hustled to last to save a dead heat decision for third place with MARSON. The latter, hard ridden early while disputing command, tired during the last sixteenth. CAUTIVO had good early speed, faltering in the stretch. DUNADE was unable to enter into serious contention. STEEL KING, reserved back of the pace for the first three-quarters, moved up gradually on the inside during the last five-sixteenths and, fortunate in obtaining clear sailing along the inner rail in the stretch, was up in the final stride. SKIPPED moved up to take the lead soon after reaching the back stretch, met determined opposition from GATLIN and, while holding the latter safe through the stretch, was unable to cope with the closing bid of the winner. GATLIN was prominent all the way, made a game attempt to catch the pacemaker, but was unable to close any ground in the stretch. STANDARD TIME was slow to settle into his best stride, began moving to- the leaders on the inside leaving the back stretch, wore down the pacemakers when reaching the stretch and drew out steadily. MISS APPREHEND had speed from the start, met deetrmined opposition from FINDON and had nothing left with which to meet the challenge of the winner. FINDON displayed good speed in forcing and setting the pace, but tired through the closing quarter mile. CAVE HILL raced well placed early, but was unable to go with the leaders when called upon. SINGERS FOLLY; as usual, was slow to begin, began improving his position midway of the back stretch, responded gamely when called upon, wore down the early leaders when reaching the stretch and barely lasted to hold the fast closing JANEEN. The latter was far back until the last three-eighths and lost considerable ground at the stretch turn and finished wearing down the leaders steadily. PRINCE DEAN was slightly restrained while in pursuit of the pace and closed willingly, getting up in the final stride to wear down GALLOPING. The latter was much used in racing with OFFENDER and tired during the last eighth. OFFENDER displayed good speed in making the pace, but tired steadily in the stretch run.
