BARRETT AT SHREVEPORT SHREVEPORT, La., Oct. 17. George Barrett, manager of the pari-mutuel department of the State Jockey Club, was an arrival from Chicago over the week-end and immediately began putting his department into tip-top shape and going over applications for positions as clerks. Native Shreveporters will be given preference in the selection of clerks, it was announced by Barrett.
