1 SHREVEPORT TURF NOTES $ g T. F. Maloney brought in two horses for racing during the meeting at the Caddo Parish race meeting. The racers are Red Basil and Crabtree, which were campaigned on the Canadian circuit during the past summer. Bud Ray, trainer of the W. A. Mikel Stable at the State Fair grounds, reported the trade of the veteran Chiefs Troubadour to Earl Wilson for the three-year-old Roy D. Royal. It was an even swap. A request was received from Mrs. Doris Henderson for stabling room for three horses, which is being held in abeyance. The horses for which Mrs. Henderson is seeking stall space are Jackknife, Furled Flag and Erb. Horsemen at River Downs and Sportsmans Park have been notifed not to ship to Shreveport unless their applications for stabling room has been approved by track superintendent Tom Brown. Owners and trainers are urged to file their registrations of horses immediately with racing secretary Emmet Hileman, so as to facilitate the racing secretarys crew with the issuance of badges. Much favorable comment has been expressed by the trainers of thoroughbreds at the State Fair Grounds regarding the condition of the racing strip, which is rated as 100 per cent improved over that of a year ago.
