COCKEREL, pinched off slightly in the first few strides, stole through on the inside of the leaders on the the turn to gain a contending position, went to the front when the leaders swung wide on the stretch turn and won under punishment. ROSETOWN showed good speed to set the early pace, bore out on the stretch turn to lose the lead, but rallied under urging in the closing drive. DAMAGED GOODS was a keen lactor during the running and held on gamely to the finish. CUTTER, sluggish in the early racing, closed last when settled in stride. AIR STREAM was shuffled back on the turn, then came again in the final issue. SACK showed speed for three-eighths. FLAMING HIGH lost ground. WISE GLANCE was outrun. NUTTY riad no mishaps. POMPE GRANDE went evenly. BROTHER HIGHER broke very slowly. Scratched Stagefright, 120; Race On, 120; Be Prepared, 117; Floradora Girl, 117. SECOND RACE 3-4 MILE Out of Chute. DRIFT ALONG began quickly and, taking command early, was unable to draw clear at any time and responded courageously to a hard drive in the closing test. RISSA, prominent throughout, secured room on the j inside when engaging the winner, finished well and just missed. INFIDOX, close up throughout, continued well in the closing drive. MURPH was hard urged from the start, went with the pacemaker in the early running, but tired in the stretch drive. TEDDY PATIC, lacking early speed, finished gamely on the inside. YELLOW TULIP met with slight interference on the turn out of the back stretch, then failed to menace. TIME SIGNAL lost ground throughout. PHILLIPS PETE was a trailer all the way. ACE CALL, stoutly handled to get into the lead in the first eighth, raced SAVING GRACE into defeat in the first five-eighths and, moving clear in the stretch, drew out without effort nearing the close. SUPERSTITION, slow to start, moved up gradually, went to the outside and closed well. BLAZEAROUND raced on the outside of the leaders and improved her position steadily in the drive. ROBESPIERRE had a lot taken out of him to get into contention and tired under punishment in the stretch. SUN GIRL came with good speed after being outrun early. THE SERF showed flashes of speed. GOLDEN CLOWN was made too much use of getting into a forward position and tired badlv. GREEDAN began slowly. BEACON ROCK was outrun. SAVING GRACE tired after five-eighths. GRIDIRON lost ground. HYPOCRITE, forcing a swift pace while racing close to the pacemmaker, went to the front when reaching the stretch and, drawing clear, had to be hard urged inthe last eighth to hold PICCOLO. The latter, steadied close to the leaders, responded gamely in the final three-sixteenths and was wearing down the winner. KENTY, outrun for seven-eighths, went wide in the late stages, but finished well. CATOMAR moved up gradually and held on gamely. ROSERETTER lost ground in the late stages. SUN EGRET, kept under strong pressure while racing in the first flight, went around the leaders and, taking command in the last eighth, was hard ridden and drew out fast. FIGHTING FOX moved up steadily after being taken out of close quarters and finished fast. OLD ROSEBUSH went into a short lead on the turn, saved ground, but failed to stay when overtaken. BATTLE JACK was in the thick of contention early . and held on well. WISE PRINCE raced in close quarters for five-eighths, then finished strongly when clear. JAY JAY raced strongly in the early stages and finished gamely. CHAPS closed a gap. GRIM REAPER fell far back early and finished fast, but pulled up lame. SALAMIS lost ground and did not menace the leaders. AIRFLAME had early speed. AETHELWOLD raced well in the early racing. BULL WHIP showed early speed. The latter went to the outside and closed fast. GYRAL worked his way up on the inside and Finished well. ROWES TZRUMP displaced TOWN CAR without effort and, drawing into a clear lead, failed to stay when challenged. INVERMARK, full of run while racing reserved for three-quarters, challenged strongly at the final turn and wore down SIAM when reaching the homo stretch, then continued strongly to draw out nearing the finish. WHITE SAND dropped far out of contention and was taken wide in the last half mile when making her run. but finished stoutly. SIAM was used up getting to the front and tired fast in the last three-sixteenths. SLATTERN worked her way up steadily but tired after entering contention. BAIN MARIE raced well placed but failed to rally when shaken up. BEWITCHED showed a good effort for three-quarters. THE QUEEN raced in dull fashion. PROPH was overhauled midway of the back stretch and tired steadily.
