Fluke was one of the most improved thoroughbreds running at the recent New Orleans meeting, winning five races. Louie De Lonshaw, the East St. Louis turfman, is back with three horses, Bucks Rosa, Bucks Genie and Bucks Pal. H. E. Nicely unloaded two horses, Silver Palm and Busy Nite. Silver Palm was a winner in the Crescent City. General manager D. C. Burnett is bubbling with optimism over the coming campaign. "With so many new good stables coming to Fairmount, we should have some of the best racing in the history of the track," . he commented. T. Park brought in four horses, Lopaz, Genie Jr., Decent and Deblah. Lopaz and Genie Jr. were highly consistent performers here at both the spring and fall meetings last year. Norman "Butsey" Hernandez wired he was shipping his fifteen-horse stable from New Orleans and for stalls to be bedded down for the lot. Roidef and Bad Roll, stars of the recent New Orleans campaign, will make their debut in these parts. Robert Lerner, former trainer, who took in the recent Hot Springs meeting, arrived here and said he may purchase several horses to race in his colors. The Pelican, sired by Haste, the first Fair-mount Park Derby winner, was one of three unloaded here by Z. E. McGregor. The others brought in were Brophy and Tarpon. The racing secretary has drafted his first issue of the condition books and having returned from the printer are being distributed to horsemen. W. Day asked stalls for ten horses, including Ding Bin and Barnstormer. Six juveniles are listed in the request - F. Grande, former New Orleans boxing promoter, came in with three horses, with Irisheen the best known. Ex-jockey H. R. Riley, who is on the scene with the horse Har-Jo, said he would consider handling other thoroughbreds for outside interests. R. C. Gillem applied for ten stalls but failed to reveal the names of his thoroughbreds.
