DO IT had speed from the start and, after taking a good lead on the baxk stretch, increased his advantage in the stretch and won in hand. PLAYBACK made his move too late and, while best of the others, did not seriously menace the winner. BELL OF IRON was in close quarters early and showed good form. SWIFT GAL raced wide in the stretch, but finished well. LOVERS CHAT tired after challenging near the stretch turn. RUSTIC MISS tired. HYPNOTIST raced on the heels of SUN X. on the first turn and again bothered horses near the far turn and was pulled up when he went lame. CHIEF PILOT, never far from the pace, raced through an opening early to move up close to the leaders and, responding gamely in the stretch, won going away. SLAPPED was forced to race wide while making his move, but was, going gamely in the middle of the track at the end. SPAZZ, handling his weight- well, was a forward factor from the start. JIMMIE SWEET Was also well up all the way. HIGHMOST was shuffled back soon after th start and raced very wide while making his move. DOLLY K. tired in the stretch. BONILUNA was never a factor, although saving ground on the stretch turn. JUSTVVAR tired after racing into a contending position. I SCAPOSE, in close quarters early, found an opening around the far turn and, gaining gradually although racing wide, took the lead near the end and held STAR STEPPER safe. The latter sprinted to the front early to open up a good lead and, saving ground in the stretch, went well to the finish. SHASTA KLICK was a factor from the start in a good performance. BOLD LAD raced wide. FORT RYOLA tired. MASTER JEAN saved ground in the stretch and finished fairly well. Overweight Shasta Klick, 1 pound; Fort Ryola, 3; Queen Jean, 5. PRINCE HEATHER moved up strongly to catch the leader after entering the stretch but faltered in the final drive. KING ROYALE was hustled to a contending position early but dropped back ncaring the stretch turn and never threatened the leaders thereafter. ELSTREE made up some ground. SHASTA BUDDY tired. BON FUME was never a contender. Overweight Elstree, 1 pound.
