I CHURCHILL DOWNS NOTES f Tom Young and E. A. Weidekamp returned from Latonia, where they went to inspect improvements being made at the Cov- ington track. William "Billy" Meyers, manager of the Kansas City Blues and former Louisville ball player, visited Churchill Downs with Wathen Knebelkamp and Ed C. Knebelkamp. Prince Fox and Henrietta have been added to the stable of W. C. Weant. The condition of the three-year-old Buffalo Bill, owned by William E. Smith, continues to improve, although a bruised heel, which later was aggravated, will keep him inactive for quite a while. A limited number of the first Pimlico condition books were received here. The book embraces conditions for the first six days of racing. William O. Hicks, young trainer of the Emdale Stable of Emil Schwartzhaupt, Daniel Weiskopf and Leon Guerngross, re ports all of the horses in the stable doing splendidly and plans to start most of them during the Churchill -Downs spring meeting. Seven two-year-olds in the Emdale establishment were sired by Spanish Play, which stands at the Emdale Stock Farm near here. George Krehbiel, turf editor of the Detroit News, is expected here over the week-end and after the close of Keneland will come here for the duration of the Churchill Downs meeting. Garnett V. "Bings" Keller, turf writer and columnist of the Louisville Times, is in a critical condition at his home. Keller has been suffering from a heart ailment and asthma for some time, but his condition only became critical several days ago. Up until that time he was at his desk daily. The entire exterior of the racing adminis- . tration office has been repainted and work on another of the new barns was nearing completion. Oh Fudge, Emancipator, Tip Toe Tim and Alma Nugget are the Mrs. M. M. Weil horses quartered at Douglas Park. They came from Florida.
