INTERNATIONAL LEAGUE OPENS NEW YORK, N. Y., April 20. The International League opened the 1939 baseball season yesterday. All eight teams in the circuit are fully confident of winning the flag, a situation created by the fact that the Newark Bears, who were easy winners in 1937 and 1938, have disposed of most of their star players to major league teams.
