HENRYELS PICK was outrun in the early stages, but came to the outside in the stretch, responded when urged and wore down TIME PASSES in the final drive. The latter dwelt slightly at the start, but was sent up fast into command, disposed of BULL MOOSE, but quit badly in the final sixteenth. BROAD TAIL raced forwardly all the way and had no excuses in the running. BULL MOOSE showed early speed, therf quit. CHALOTAUR showed a good effort. AMEROSA raced evenly throughout. SHUCHOR broke from outside the stalls, but could not menace the leaders. ZODIAC had no mishaps. CALENDQUEST was outrun. DUNLAD had no mishaps. GLENASTAR was outrun. TONYPANDY, in near pursuit of the pace from the start, moved up fast on the outside rounding the stretch turn, disposed of ALSELEDA and drew away at the end. ALSELEDA was sent into command at the start and showed speed while saving ground, but faltered at the finish. BALLYHASTE went wide rounding the stretch turn, then closed gamely at the end. SIMKOE was close up in the early stages, but tired in the stretch. BABY BOOTIES raced greenly throughout. MARION W. was taken up at the start and was never a factor thereafter. FORTY EIGHT was sent into command shortly after the start, was rated along under steady restraint, was roused slightly in the stretch run to stall off WATCH OVER and drew away at the end. The latter broke from outside of the stalls, moved up with a rush, made a determined bid in the stretch and then hung. JOHNS HEIR saved ground entering the stretch and closed resolutely. CHALMAC raced forwardly from the start and had no mishaps in the running. GRIDINE moved up on the outside entering the stretch, then faltered. CHIP IN closed ground at the end. MY PORTER had no mishaps in the running. STONEY BRUSH lacked speed. HIGHSCOPE tired badly and was not persevered with at the end. Scratched— 72881JPontius, 112. Overweight — Gridine, 3 pounds. FIGHTING FOX was away in a tangle and, outrun in the early stages, worked his way up on the inside, came to the outside for the stretch run, then finished with a rush to dispose of SALAMIS in the final strides. The latter was away fast and taken back when outrun, improved her position under pressure in the stretch, then held on gamely to the end. PAGLIACCI was kept in a forward position from the start and had no mishaps in the running. EARLY DELIVERY showed high early speed, saved ground and had no mishaps in the running. THE CHIEF was shuffled back after the start and, slow to recover, made up ground steadily. ENTRACTE forced a fast early pace, then quit in the stretch. BROWN KING was outrun early. JOHNSTOWN escaped interference going to the first turn and, following the pace under steady restraint, moved into command rounding the far turn, disposed of T. M. DORSETT and drew away, winning with speed in reserve. VOLITANT was bothered rounding the first turn, recovered quickly and moved up on the outside, made a determined bid rounding the stretch turn, but was tiring at the finish. IMPOUND was slow to begin and outrun early, improved his position steadily and Finished well at the end. T. M. DORSETT displayed early speed, saved ground throughout and had no excuses. CHIEF ONAWAY was slow to begin and outrun early, then made up ground nearing the end. EL CHICO was bumped and knocked off stride going to the first turn, failed to recover and could not menace the leaders thereafter. BOOK PLATE came over sharply going to the first turn, raced forwardly in the early stages and then quit. EIGHT THIRTY was outrun from the start and could not menace the leaders at any stage. LAUERMAN faltered at the finish. JUNGLE BOY had no excuses. THAT ONE was outrun from the start. BOSONIA had no mishaps. VIRGINIA BOY could not improve his position.
