DECOURCY, away slowly and forced to race wide throughout, began to work his way up after reaching the turn, closed fast under strong urging in the final quarter and, wearing down NEMONT, drew out in the closing strides. NEMONT, a sharp factor from the start, took command under snug restraint on the turn and held on with determination, but was not good enough. BARBARA A., in close quarters early, quickly improved her position when clear, was on the inside in the stretch and tired after making a game challenge entering the last eighth. ALUP, jostled about early and blocked on the stretch turn, came with a rush in the stretch, showing a fine effort. LADY ARIEL, fractious at the post and away slowly, was under strong urging after the first quarter, then tired in the stretch. STAR BUD raced well.
