Plaudaway Works Three-Eighths in :37% Handily — Transview Also Displays Good Speed. COLLINSVILLE, 111., April 29— Fairmount Park yesterday had the busiest training session of the spring, as a preliminary to the twenty-seven day campaign, starting a week from today. Over seventy-five thoroughbreds took the track for various moves, including many of the topnotchers. Plaudaway, the juvenile sensation of New Orleans, which came close to lowering the worlds record for a quarter mile, dashed three-eighths in :37%, handily. Prince Argo, one of the star runners in the "Butsey" Hernandez barn, went five-eighths easily in 1:06%. Professor Paul, owned by the Belleville turfman, Jim Chesney, turned in the outstanding spin of the day, going three-quarters in 1:15%, handily; under jockey Charley Hanauer. Another Chesney color-bearer, Transview, also displayed keen speed, going five-eighths in 1:02. On the track for short gallops were Chance Ray, ace of the C. E. Davison barn, which won close to 8,000 last year;. Sweet Adeline, Radio Charm, Bad Roll, Roidef and numerous others of less distinction. INAUGURAL CANDIDATES. Of the group, Prince Argo, Professor Paul, Transview, Chance Ray, Roidef and possibly Sweet Adeline are candidates for the ,200 Inaugural Handicap, opening feature of the meeting. Davison came in from a lengthy vacation trip following the New Orleans meeting, and took over active charge of his stable. Also reaching the track yesterday were a trio of officials, Alfie Irvin, of the mutvfel department; Eddie Griffin, custodian of the jockeys room, and Eugene "Frenchy" Schwartz, the timer and clocker. Irwin announced roll call to appoint mutuel clerks will be held next Thursday afternoon at 2 oclock. The track yesterday received a final primping by workmen for the Inspection Day program tomorrow, and fans who journey out to the track will see it in a spic and span condition. The test race, feature of tomorrows program, will be run at 3 oclock.
