ST. LOUIS DERBY SPECIALS Large Number of Turf Fans Will Journey to Louisville for Big Churchill Downs Feature. ST. LOUIS, Mo., April 29.— Jay Herndon Kirkland, St. Louis travel agent, will chaperon a party of 167 St. Louisians to Louisville for the Kentucky Derby Saturday, May 6. Kirkland purchased ,360 worth of boxes and granstand seats for his party. The Kirkland party will travel over the B. and O. Railroad and spend Saturday night and Sunday in French Lick, Ind. Kirkland said last night: "We escorted 167 guests to-the Derby last year, and handled 240 two years ago — the year Bold Venture bagged the Derby." George E. Herring, Louisville and Nashville Railroad, reports that he could easily fill another special train if he could lay his hands on 140 additional reserved seats at the track. Herring has some seats available but not enough to fill another special. Daniel McNamara, B. and O. Railroad representative, reports a heavier volume of reservations than usual for the Kentucky Derby. McNamara, who has been handling Kentucky Derby crowds for years, estimates that several thousand St. Louisians will travel to Louisville by train for the race.
