« 1 4 j i i : ■ 1 : PIMLICO TURF NOTES I — £ Harold E. Bester of the Hagerstown Fair Association is bringing a large party of friends here from the liub city to attend the Preakness. Charles J. McLennan has announced that entries for the opening day at Suffolk Downs Monday, would be accepted at both Pimlico and Narragansett Park on Saturday. Jockeys Don Meade and Harry Richards both remained over after having mounts in the Dixie Handicap to ride Thursday at Pimlico. James V. Stewart -was winner of the trainers race staged at Pimlico Wednesday morning. J. Davis was second and J. Y. Christmas third. They were mounted on stable ponies and the race was at three-sixteenths of a mile. Joe Peters is assembling a racing string for Mrs. A. Craig of Philadelphia and this new recruit to racing will campaign at the leading tracks in the United States. Several riders, including Sammy Palumbo, Li. Garrett and G. Witmer, departed for Charlestown, W. Va., to await the opening of the Charles Town Jockey Club meeting on Monday. Charles J. McLennan, who will serve as racing secretary for the Eastern Racing Association at Suffolk Downs will depart after the last race on Saturday for Boston." Trainer L. J_ Schaefer plans to ship the W. L. Brann stable to Delaware Park at a later date. J. Bowes Bond is sending a draft of his stable to Charles Town for the meeting that opens Monday. Donald Ross, a director of the Delaware Steeplechase and Race Association, will occupy his box for the running of the Preakness Stakes. William Woodward will witness the running of the Preakness Stakes along with a party of friends that he is bringing from New York. Thomas Cromwell, well-known Kentucky publisher, arrived late Thursday and remained over to witness the forty-ninth running of the Preakness Stakes.
