SWAHILI PROVES A REPEATER : Accounts for Concord Purse With i Front-Running Effort. Holluschickie Comes From Far Back to Earn Place Award— Large Gathering Out for Semi-Final Program. PAWTUCKET, R. I., May 12— Mrs. Emil Denemarks Swahili led all the way to score in the mile and seventy yards Concord Purse, which featured the next to last day of sport at Narragansett Parks spring meeting. The winner was ridden out by Jimmy Ash-croft, who seemed over anxious in the stretch when he had the race won and kept looking back. At the end the son of Sir Gallahad III. was two lengths in front of Mrs. P. A. Shaws Holluschickie, which came from far back to take the place a length and a half in advance of Medway Stables Ghost Queen. The latter loomed as a formidable "factor as she charged up on the turn, but . the luck of trainer George Alexandra, who has been often in the money but seldom in the winners circle, held this afternoon. The : favored Infidox was fourth. Gallant Stroke : was the only other starter. The day was sunny and warm and a large crowd was out for the sport. Swahili finished • out over a fast track in 1:43%. TAKES CLEAR LEAD. The five horses got away from "Buddy" I Wingfields gate on even terms, but Swahili [ took a clear lead in the run to the clubhouse i ! turn, widening out to a length and a half ■ advantage over Infidox as they entered the : back stretch. Ghost Queen was a close third. , This order was maintained as they swept ; down the far lane, but around the final turn i Infidox began to fail and Ghost Queen i moved to second, place, appearing to have . dead aim on the leader at the stretch. Swahili, however, was "still two lengths in front. From the eighth pole home Ashcroft kept ; looking over his shoulder, but he kept kicking, " and his mount held his advantage to the end. Holluschickie made a great rush 1 from last place to take second, but it came ! too late to menace the winner. Mrs. D. A. Buckleys Time Beater, under a ■ lashing drive from Harry Krovitz, came flying down the stretch to beat Rosedale Stables Anxiety by a nose in the last stride of the six furlongs opener. The runner-up appeared " to have the race safely won at the ; sixteenth pole, where she was in the van by some three lengths, but Time Beater unleashed a tremendous burst of late speed and got up in the nick of time. Mrs. 17. A. ■ Shaws Savant, which set the pace for Anxiety to the stretch, wound up third, two and ; a half lengths off the battling leaders. They went in 1:13%. ESPRIT SUCCESSFUL. J. J. Shugrues Esprit charged up fast to 1 win the six furlongs second by a head over W. R. Reeds Bright Spot.. Ken McCombs 1 put up a stout finish on the winner, which 1 appeared a beaten horse seventy yards from 1 the wire. Mrs. E. Andersons My Gracious finished third, two lengths off the runner-up 1 and two and a half lengths in advance of Mr. ■ Hyland. The heavily backed Mikes Grace ! made the pace, but tired in the stretch, winding up a well-beaten fifth. The favored Armstrong, from Paul Ando-linos stable, was many pounds the best in the six furlongs third event, but dwelt at the gate and had to make up fifteen lengths. That task was too much for him and he could land no better than third behind E. P. Rick-ards Our David and Mrs. Ethel D. Jacobs Mixed Weather. His race was a remarkable one, even though he did not win it. Weston Adams, New England owner, and Eddie Robart, New England jockey, scored in the six furlongs fourth event as Golden Fate fought it out in the pace all the way and drew out in the final sixteenth to beat Mrs. L. A. Brusies Little Mike by two lengths. Dora G. Ryans High Treason was third, another half length back, and Linas Son finished fourth. The winner, which ruled favorite, finished out in 1:13%. Egress proved best of the three-year-old platers that made up the field for the six furlongs of the sixth event. After gaining a slight lead at the end of the first three-sixteenths miles, the Cotlogomer gelding was good enough to cut out the running to the end, finishing with a length to spare over Mr. Brook. Macie Margaret was third.
