1 BELMONT PARK TURF NOTES | $ 3 Jockey J. Stout returned to Pimlico to guide Johnstown in the Preakness on Saturday. R. Donoso will ride Gilded Knight for the Wheatley Stable. The steeplechase set was well represented during the morning schooling hours. Horses owned by the Greentree Stable, Brookmeade, T. H. Hitchcock, Gwladys Whitney, Frank M. Gould and others were put through their paces. Jockey Eddie Arcaro will go to Toronto to ride one of Mrs. H. R. Bains starters in the Kings Plate at Woodbine. Jockey J. Westrope was among the arrivals yesterday. He came from Maryland. Horsemen report that the physical condition of horses this spring is far ahead of the same time last season. A coughing epidemic raged through the barns one year ago. Trainer Matt Brady said that W. J. Zieg-lers El Chico will be out of competition until the Saratoga meeting. El Chico, according to his trainer, has a slight foot infection, the result of a small pebble working under his plate. Rosarian, which won at Jamaica a few minutes after the death of his owner, will race in the name and colors of C. Carroll, a son of the deceased. The horse will be trained by Louis Morris. Frank Kelly arrived from California and will stay for some time. He was track superintendent at the Fair Grounds, New Orleans, and Arlington Downs, Texas. An exercise boy named Page, in the employ of J. H. Whitney, was thrown from a two-year-old this morning and suffered slight injuries. The boy was removed to the hospital for observation and examination. Duval Headley, after pacing the floors of a maternity hospital in Detroit, arrived Friday morning and reported the arrival of a seven-pound eight-ounce red-headed baby girl to Mrs. Headley. Frank Stevens dispatched Otto Luke to Cleveland to prepare North Randall Park for .the Stevens firm. The catering concession was taken over by the firm last week. Walter Cox, of trotting horse fame, was among Friday afternoon visitors. George H. Bull will go to Pimlico, Saturday, to lend moral and vocal assistance to . the Saratoga Stables "Volitant in the Preakness.
