J. E. 0R0S COMPLETES HIS APPRENTICESHIP 3 LOUISVILLE, Ky., May 12 —Having completed 1- his apprenticeship, John E. Oros today *- began riding at Churchill Downs as a a journeyman jockey. Since he handled the e first winner of his life at Aurora on May 12 2 of last year, Oros mourfts have finished in n front a total of 158 times. The 121 winners s he has for 1939 places him first in the American i- jockey standings. Oros is well equipped to continue his saddle I- profession, having both the size and the e skill, but now he will have to compete with h other accomplished youngsters who enjoy y the five pounds allowance as well as with h more seasoned older riders. He plans to remain at Churchill Downs is until the close of the local season on May ■/ 20 and then will transfer his activities to o Detroit. _
