STOUT HEART was taken to the lead after going a quarter and, racing under restraint for the rest of the journey, won as his rider pleased. PRINCE PHAROAH, away well, forced the pace all the way, but could not catch the winner. DYAK, away slowly, saved ground and, moving stoutly in the stretch, closed a big gap. TRIPLE PLAY raced well in the going. CARL B. showed nothing. INTRIP had speed for three-quarters, then tired badly. ALROSE broke quickly and, taking the track, steadily increased his advantage to win in a canter. CATCHALL, close up and saving ground throughout, was no threat to the winner, but was easily best of the others. JOHNNIE DEAR broke slowly, came out for the drive and closed gamely. AGREEABLE, a keen factor, forced the pace for a half mile, but tired in the stretch drive. JOE JAY closed well from a slow beginning. BABUR raced evenly in a good effort. The others never were dangerous.
