QUE GATO raced to the front immediately, drew clear in the first quarter mile, was rated along in front, met a determined bid from HIGH TREASON, held her safe through the last quarter mile and was increasing her advantage slowly at the end. HIGH TREASON worked her way into a forward position in the opening three-sixteenths, made a bold bid to reach the leader, was not good enough and began tiring in the last thirty yards. MR. BUDDY was well placed throughout and held on well to the end. ROYAL BIRD, hard ridden early to hold a forward position, was unable to better position when called upon. VITOX was unable to threaten. PATCHPOCKET lost ground and faltered in the stretch run. ERNIE MANZER was outrun. He was worked out an additional eighth. LITTLE MIKE, away slowly, was outrun all the way. SATIN ROLLS, well placed all the way and slightly reserved early, came stoutly in the stretch run and was along in the closing stride to wear down STONE RANCH. The latter raced to the front at once, opened up a good lead, but began tiring in the last sixteenth and just failed to hold on long enough. TEXSTAR, slow to begin and forced to lose ground leaving the back stretch, came extremely wide into the stretch and finished with a rush, getting up in the closing stride to wear down BRIGHT VIEW and was traveling the fastest of all at the end. BRIGHT VIEW, taken back nearing the far turn, moved up gamely in the stretch, but was unable to close any ground in the closing drive. ECOPAN, hard ridden early while in closest chase of the pace, faltered in the stretch run. Overweight — Ecopan, 1 pound; Phoebe Anna, 3. H. W. HIGHPOOL raced to the front at once, was under slight restraint when TAUT assumed command, was under punishment through the closing stages and just lasted. RAMROD was outpaced early, worked way up gradually and, closing wirh a rush, just missed being up in time. SEMAPHORE, outpaced early, saved ground into the stretch and closed with good courage. TAUT, hustled to the front midway down the hack stretch, made a determined effort to go along with the winner when challenged and tired in the last eighth. FRANK H. closed a bie gap. MY GRACIOUS closed some ground. MAESTRUNG tired badly. MASKED GAL tired. GHOST TRAIN dropped back in the last three eighths. CHANCER followed along within striking distance of the early pace, responded gamely when called upon, gained a slight advantage midway of the turn and hold TILAANA safe through the closing eighth. TILAANA worked her way up gradually and finished with good energy through the stretch turn. PORDINA, prominent all tha way. was unable to close any ground through the stretch run. BALL O FIRE, in close quarters nearing the far turn and unable to gain racing room during the first three-eighths, failed to close any appreciable amount of ground when clear. COMBAHEE, outrun early, came stoutly on the outside throush the last eighth and was worked out an additional quarter mile, covering the mile in 1:40. GOSTER tired after losing the lead. O.MSAC, far back until the last three-sixteenths, closed with a rush on the outside and was going stoutly at the close. AMBUSCADE, hard ridden early, tired under occasional punishment. LOVEDAY was unable to keep pace early, swung to the outside when reaching the stretch and, closing with a rush, wore down PERSONAGE inside the last seventy yards to increase her advantage steadily in the closing strides. PERSONAGE had good speed trom the start, had to be hard ridden to dispose of HAZEL F. and TETRAGYN and had nothing left with which to meet the challenge of the winner. HAZEL F. had speed from the start, met determined opposition from PERSONAGE and tired slightly during the last eighth. TETRAGYN fought it out gamely with the leaders for the first half mile and. on the outside, tired in the closing three sixteenths. ZENANA was unable to reach the leaders. FIRE BALL was slow to begin, began working his way up steadily when midway through the back stretch, moved to the leaders steadily and wore down MISS L. P. after passing the eighth post to draw out steadily. MISS L. P. had speed from the start, disputed the lead with ANNIKIN and, while holding the latter safe, was unable to cope with the closing bid of the winner. ANNIKIN alternated in the lead, but tired in the last three-sixteenths. AMPLE was unable tc close any ground when called upon. ABBOTS LARK was on the outside leaving the back stretch and lost much ground. DROSERA was never a factor. JIM MIKE saved considerable ground on the first turn, gained a prominent position, but was caught in a jam and had to be taken up soon after straightening out in the back stretch. ROYAL UPSET ran almost to the outride rail rounding the first turn and lost whatever chance he may have had. Overweight — Abbots Lark, 2 pounds; Scotch Judge, 2; Royal Upset, 1.
